PERSONAL APPEARANCE

The Academy feels that there is a strong correlation between the development of a Christian sense of self-worth and appearance. Dress is to reflect modesty (1 Timothy 2:9) and is to identify the pupil with Christ; not the world (Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 2:4). Students are to keep in mind that the Christian body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) not a visual spectacle. There is a focus on preparing students for life within our society and for being properly attired for differing events or circumstances. Students should be neat and clean at all times.

DISALLOWED ITEMS-NOT TO BE WORN AT ANY TIME

1. Body piercing jewelry on boys/girls. Girls only, may wear modest earrings.

2. Temporary tattoos/body art. Permanent tattoos shall be covered at all times.

3. Sleeveless shirts, yoga pants, leggings/jeggings, pullover hoodies

OFFICIAL CLOTHING

Students may wear only clothing designated by the Academy. Parents/Responsible Parties shall be responsible to purchase/replace clothing, as needed. Parents/Responsible Parties shall judge the appropriateness of student clothing and maintain the dress code. The Administrator shall communicate with Parents/Responsible Parties if their student deviates from this policy and shall correct their student(s) dress or face disciplinary action. (see Disciplinary Guidelines)

BASIC STANDARDS FOR ALL CLOTHING

DRESSES/SKIRTS/SHORTS/CULOTTES/CAPRIS — will be at least knee length and may not rise above the knee when student is sitting. No undergarments shall be visible.

JEANS — will be basic 4/5-pocket style, straight leg or boot cut, indigo blue. No ornamentation, holes, frayed, bleached, etc. All will sit at the natural waist of the wearer, no low-rise, hip hugger, bell bottom styles. No undergarments shall be visible above the waistband of the jeans at any time.

DRESS SLACKS — will be flat-front or pleated style and fit the wearer modestly. No yoga pants or leggings.No undergarments shall be visible.

SHIRTS/BLOUSES — length will be adequate to cover the midriff/waistline completely at all times and not extend past the hips. Chest size will be adequate for modesty.

SHOES/BOOTS — shall be full-foot styles. No sandal or open-toe/open-heel styles. All footwear should be clean and free of mud/debris.

FIELD TRIP UNIFORM

Clothing to be worn will be designated on field trip permission form and must conform to basic standards.

 

CHAPEL DAY

Chapel dress is required on chapel days and is defined as follows:

Girls (K-3rd) – navy jumper, white blouse, white socks/tights and black dress shoes.

Girls (4th-12th) – navy skirt, white BCA polo shirt, hosiery and black dress shoes.

Girls may wear navy slacks when forecasted high temperature for the day will be less than 40 degrees.

Boys (K-12th) – navy slacks. white BCA polo shirt, hosiery and black dress shoes/boots.

Girls or Boys Sweater/Jacket – navy blue, cardigan style only, no pullover or hoodie pullover

 

DAILY WEAR GIRLS

Dresses/Skirts/Culottes – as per basic standards Capris/Shorts (in season) – as per basic standards; not athletic. Denim shorts must comply with the fit and color as per basic standards.

Blouse/Shirt – as per basic standards; solid color polo or oxford-style

Jeans/Slacks – as per basic standards.

Sweater/Jacket –navy blue, cardigan style only, no pullover or hoodie pullover

Shoes/Boots – as per basic standards

DAILY WEAR BOYS

Shorts (in season) – as per basic standards; no athletic. Denim shorts must comply with the fit and color as per basic standards.

Shirt – as per basic standards; solid color polo or oxford-style

Jeans/Slacks – as per basic standards.

Sweater/Jacket –navy blue, cardigan style only, no pullover or hoodie pullover

Shoes/Boots – as per basic standards

P.E. WEAR

Shorts – athletic, as per basic standards, bike-shorts underneath for modesty

Pants – Windpants/Sweatpants, no yoga pants

Shirts – must have sleeves, t-shirts may be worn but may not have offensive ornamentation, must conform to the basic standards in fit and length

Shoes – athletic shoes only

Tournament Uniform – navy windpants/sweatpants, navy shorts. BCA issued jersey.
